![]() Playing without the mod has made me realize absolute shit the game is (to me) because of the lack of proper airlocks. I’d rather sacrifice a pump and plug the hole permanently somehow, instead of relying on them. Like I said, I’ve played without the mod plenty of times, done the hard asteroids even without airlocks because of how shitty they are. The challenge to me is “how do I pump oil properly from the lava biome?”, “how do I make this SPOM as efficient as possible?” or “how do I design a liquid hydrogen cooler?”. Tell me how it’s a challenge to set up a 30 second airlock (that may break later by unforeseen shit dupes do)? I do not find any challenge in that, only frustration. It’s ugly, it is in place of a missing real gas / liquid separation mechanic, and it gives soggy feet.Ģ) challenge of the game, is something everyone brings up. It’s not a challenge, but more of an annoying game mechanic to set up. If I could exchange the whole DLC for proper working airlocks, self sealing or otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to do it.ġ) the actual implementation of airlocks. I want to properly solve designs and separate gases and liquids reliably. I feel like this has gone unnoticed or not cared about for way too long, and I don't want to rely on a mod to have the experience fun. Hell no it doesn't, it only does it when it's closed, which tiles do as well. "Mechanized AIRLOCK" also states that it prevents liquid and gas flows. ![]() There'll be spillage, you need to deconstruct it after to make it look, it all just feels like a damn unfortunate exploit. They take so much effort to set up for something that should be in the game already. The idea is good but by god, they are actively forcing us to do ugly solutions to keep food deep frozen).įor some reason, one of the foods didn't get cooled fast enough in the vacuum so it became rot, which for some reason jumped right into the crude oil airlock, and displaced the whole thing. Later on, I was using crude oil for the low freeze temperature to airlock my food (which honestly is a stupid mechanic they decided to implement. When I've been managing my colony so well, that the dupes start to automatically gather loose debris, they somehow found a piece of obsidian that was nearly 200 degrees and blasted past my airlock with it, destroying it of course. I was reminded by how incredibly frustrating it is, especially on early / mid game colonies where you do waterlocks with water / pwater. Most of the time I've been using the airlock seal mod to get rid of that PEST of a mechanic, but since the dawn of the DLC there hasn't been support for it so I had to do without. I've played the game extensively and know how most of mechancis work and while they're all fine:
